2017 Tallgrass Prairie applications now being accepted

Tallgrass is a residency program inspired by prairie & place with a goal of spreading awareness of the prairie as an ecosystem worth protecting. They do this by inviting artists from diverse prairie communities to contribute their voices to a conversation about place. The Tallgrass Artist Residency will invite 8-10 artists to participate in two-week residency periods between April 17 and September 22, 2017, as well as a group exhibition and artist talks on September 23, 2017. tallgrassThe goal of this residency program is to spread awareness of the prairie as an ecosystem worth protecting by inviting artists from diverse communities to contribute their voices to a conversation about place. Artists will be chosen from communities located in what has historically been typified as prairie, to participate in a series of 2-week long residency periods, culminating in a group exhibition in Fall 2016. Ideal applicants will have a strong body of work with a voice that reflects the artist’s own community; a dedication to place.
